Boer Goats are a meat breed developed in South Africa. They are hardy goats with friendly, docile temperaments. Like all goats, they require shelter from the elements (goats don't like to get wet!), strong fencing, good quality feed and minerals and clean water. They are large goats with bucks weighing upwards of 300 lbs and does in the 150-250 lb range. Boers were developed to raise multiple kids with ease, twins and triplets are the norm for them.  Less common but not unheard of are sets of quads and quints! Because Boer milk is very high in butterfat (6-7%), Boer kids grow quickly, gaining an average of half a pound per day.

The typical Boer goat is white with a red head (called traditional or correct coloring). Solid colored (red or black), paint (white body with red or black patches), spotted (solid red or black body with lighter colored spots) and dappled (solid red or black body with lighter 'marbled' spots) Boers have become very popular. Solid white Boers are not allowed.

All of our goats over 6 months old are tested annually for CAE (Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis) and CL (Caseous Lymphadenitis).  Addiionally, all goats over 18 months of age are tested annually for Johne's Disease. We maintain a completely negative herd.

Our goal is to produce animals that perform well at home and in the show ring. We strive to keep our animals in excellent condition.  We want our buyers to be happy with the goats they purchase from us whether they are buying breeding stock, show prospects, pets or meat animals.  Please contact us anytime with questions about our goats or goats in general. We'd love to have you come for a farm visit!
